About Rừng thông Bồ Bồ

Bo Bo Pine Hill (Bo Bo Pine Forest) is a tranquil green space located on DT605 route, Dien Tho, Dien Ban Tay, Da Nang (this area formerly belonged to Dien Ban - Quang Nam). I love this place for its fresh air, pleasant pine scent, and a gentle "getaway" vibe that can be experienced in just half a day.

The forest is open all day, but the actual experience can vary depending on the entrance. Some of my trips (as well as many recent reviews) mention that parts of the area are restricted due to nearby military units/local service areas; sometimes the entrance gates may be locked. Therefore, before driving a long distance, you should prepare a plan to "stroll along the forest edge + admire the lake" instead of expecting a deep trekking route.

How to get there: From Da Nang city center, head towards Cam Le Bridge/QL1A, then turn towards Dien Ban on DT605. The total distance is about 25km, taking around 35-45 minutes depending on traffic. The road is easy to travel, and the section near the forest is close to the main road, making it quite easy to find.

The best time to visit, in my opinion, is early morning or late afternoon (15:30–17:30). The weather is cool, and the sunlight filtering through the pine canopy is perfect for photos. If you go for a picnic, remember to maintain hygiene and "leave nothing but footprints."

Stroll and breathe in the pine forest air

Walk slowly around the accessible forest patches, breathe in the scent of pine resin, and enjoy the feeling of it being noticeably cooler than the main road. If I encounter restricted areas, I usually switch to walking along the forest edge to still have an experience.

Light picnic (bring your own snacks, tea/coffee)

Choose an open plot of land, spread a mat, and have a light meal. This place is suitable for groups of friends/families for a day trip, but remember to clean up all trash and bring your own trash bags.

Check-in photos with pine background and afternoon sun

The late afternoon timeframe has beautiful light, making photos look clear and fresh. Prioritize light-colored outfits and shoot from a low angle to capture the pine canopy and the sky.

Admire the lake/water spots near the forest (if you find the right path)

In some sections, you can look out over calm water surfaces with cool breezes. This is a spot where I often stop for 10–15 minutes to rest, listen to the birds, and avoid the sun.

Tips & Notes Rừng thông Bồ Bồ

1

Check the entrance before you go

There are times when gates/entrances are locked or restricted due to the surrounding area. You should check the latest reviews on Google Maps or ask local people nearby to avoid driving all the way there only to stand outside.

2

Go in the early morning or late afternoon

Between 6:00–8:00 or 15:30–17:30, it is cool with less harsh sun, and the photos will be more beautiful. At noon, the sun is quite intense, and walking will make you tired quickly.

3

Wear closed shoes + mosquito repellent

The forest has grass and soft soil; sneakers/flats are easier to walk in than sandals. Mosquitoes/ants may appear depending on the season.

4

Prepare drinking water and trash bags

Shops are not always conveniently located right where you sit. I always bring 1–2 bottles of water and trash bags to clean up before leaving.

5

Respect restricted areas/signs

If you encounter fences or prohibited signs, do not try to go deep inside. You should only visit the permitted sections to avoid trouble and ensure safety.

6

Avoid rainy days after a storm

Dirt roads become slippery with puddles, making the walking experience poor. If you still go, prepare a thin raincoat and a towel to wipe your shoes.
