Discovering Hoi An Silk Village: The Essence of Over 300 Years of Silk Craftsmanship
About Làng lụa Hội An
Hoi An Silk Village (28 Nguyen Tat Thanh, Tan An, Hoi An Tay, Da Nang) is a destination that serves as both a "craft village museum" and a lush garden space for walking, photography, and learning about the sericulture industry. Previously, this area belonged to Quang Nam, but it has now merged into Da Nang, so you will find the Da Nang address on maps is correct.
I visited in the morning, and the first impression was the spacious and peaceful atmosphere, with many ancient house corners and pleasant gardens. The display area features various types of looms and weaving tools; seeing it with your own eyes makes you realize that producing a piece of silk is not as "quick and simple" as I imagined. If you buy a tour ticket with a guide, you will be introduced to mulberry cultivation, silkworm rearing, spinning, dyeing, and weaving; the commentary makes the trip much more "worth the money" because exploring on your own might leave you lacking information.
The point I like most is the practical experience: watching the process, hearing stories about the craft, and touching different materials (mulberry silk, raw silk...). Many people also stop by just for coffee/dining and then conveniently visit. On Google, this place is rated about 4.3/5 with over 3,100 reviews, which is quite good for an urban attraction.
Note that opening hours are usually from 08:00-16:00, so you should go early to have time for the guided tour and photography. If you are in the center of Hoi An, I often combine the Silk Village and the ancient town in the same half-day to save on travel.
