Where Do Da Nang Locals Escape the Heat in Summer 2026? 5 Hidden Gems

Da Nang’s summer from May onwards is often sunny with temperatures reaching 36–38°C; there are days when just stepping out the door feels exhausting. Many tourists planning a summer trip here usually default to My Khe Beach or Ba Na Hills, but both are crowded and significantly more expensive during peak season than on regular days.

As someone born and raised in Da Nang, I want to share 5 places where locals often quietly retreat on weekends—where it’s still cool, peaceful, and maintains a true sense of relaxation. Not every spot is convenient for tourists, but if you’re willing to travel a bit, the trip will be well worth it.

Criteria for Choosing Heat Escape Spots

I chose these 5 spots based on the following criteria: located within 50km of the city center so you can go and return within the day or stay overnight depending on your needs, frequented by locals more than tourists, featuring water/mountain/forest elements for natural low temperatures, and a balance between free natural sites and eco-resorts/glamping for those seeking more comfort.

General Notes When Escaping the Heat

A few things I’ve learned after many trips: wear non-slip flats when going down to the stream, bring a light jacket as higher altitudes often have strong winds, carry enough drinking water, and leave early around 6-7 AM to take advantage of the coolest hours of the day. Some spots do not have full mobile signal, so inform your relatives of your schedule before you go.

Important: Avoid going immediately after heavy rain because stream water can rise suddenly in just a few minutes. For glamping and farm-stay areas, book at least 1 week in advance during summer as they easily run out of space.

Da Nang summer is still very much worth visiting if you know the “insider” spots of the locals. Hopefully, the 5 suggestions above help your trip become more breathable amidst the peak heat. If you have a favorite heat escape spot that hasn’t been mentioned, share it in the comments for everyone to refer to.
